Description

This Easter Toffee is a sweet and crunchy treat that’s perfect for celebrating the holiday. Saltine crackers are coated in a buttery toffee mixture, topped with colorful white chocolate and festive sprinkles, making it a delicious and easy-to-make snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 48 (or more) saltine crackers
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 6 ounces white chocolate chips (or high-quality white chocolate, chopped)
  • 12 drops gel food coloring (optional, for pastel colors)
  • Easter and springtime-themed sprinkles and candies

Instructions

  • Preheat and Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, ensuring the sides are covered.
  • Arrange Crackers: Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Make Toffee: In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar together. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes, or until bubbly, stirring constantly.
  • Pour Toffee: Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture over the saltine crackers, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  • Bake: Bake for 4-5 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbly.
  • Add Chocolate and Toppings: Remove from oven and sprinkle white chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let stand for a few minutes to melt the chocolate, then spread evenly with an offset spatula. (Optional: Tint the melted white chocolate with food coloring for a pastel effect.) Immediately sprinkle with Easter candies and sprinkles.
  • Cool and Serve: Refrigerate for 2 hours, or overnight, to allow the toffee to set completely. Break apart or cut into pieces and serve.

Notes

  • Chocolate: Use high-quality white chocolate for best melting results. You can substitute with colored candy melts.
  • Food Coloring: Use gel food coloring for vibrant pastel colors.
  • Storage: Store leftover toffee in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
