For the Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup water, divided
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated or minced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest

For the Stir Fry

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets, fresh or frozen
  • 1 small onion, small diced
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. For the Teriyaki Sauce: Combine 3/4 cup water, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, honey, and brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a low boil. Whisk 1/4 cup water and cornstarch together until dissolved. Slowly stir in the cornstarch mixture and allow to thicken. Remove from heat, stir in orange zest, and set aside.
  2. For the Stir Fry: Heat sesame oil in a wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook onion until softened. Add ground turkey and cook until fully done. Add broccoli and carrots; cook until tender. Reduce heat, stir in Teriyaki sauce, and simmer.
  3. Serve over rice and enjoy!
