Description

Steak & Queso Rice is a delicious and satisfying meal featuring tender sirloin steak strips served over flavorful basmati rice topped with creamy white queso. This dish is perfect for a weeknight dinner or special occasion.


Ingredients

Rice:

  • 2 cups Basmati Rice
  • 2 1/2 cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 cube Chicken Bouillon
  • 1 can about 14 oz Crushed Tomatoes
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 small Onion, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil

Steak:

  • 1 pound Sirloin Steak, cut into thin strips
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • Montreal steak seasoning to taste

Additional:

  • White Queso for topping
  • Fresh Cilantro for garnish
  • Flour tortillas, optional for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep the Rice: Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Sauté Garlic and Onion: In a large skillet, heat olive oil. Sauté garlic and onion until translucent.
  3. Toast the Rice: Add rice to the skillet and toast for 2 minutes.
  4. Add Liquids and Seasonings: Pour in tomatoes, broth, and seasonings. Stir well.
  5. Cook the Rice: Bring to a boil, then simmer for 18-20 minutes.
  6. Rest and Fluff: Let the rice sit covered for 5 minutes.
  7. Prep Steak: Season steak with Montreal seasoning.
  8. Cook Steak: Sear steak in a skillet for 4-5 minutes per side.
  9. Add Steak to Pan: Fluff rice, place steak on top, and drizzle with queso.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with cilantro. Serve with tortillas if desired.
