Description

A creamy and zesty dip with a perfect balance of spicy kick and bright citrus notes, this Spicy Avocado Dip is a crowd-pleaser. It’s quick to make, packed with flavor, and perfect for dipping chips or drizzling over your favorite tacos and nachos.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados, peeled, seed removed
  • 1/2 medium red onion, roughly chopped
  • 2 medium jalapeño peppers, roughly chopped
  • 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1 1/2 medium limes)
  • 35 tablespoons water

Seasonings & Herbs

  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. Blend Ingredients:
Add avocados, red onion, jalapeños, lime juice, 3 tablespoons of water, garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper into the bowl of a food processor. Blend in pulses, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure everything is evenly combined.
  2. Adjust Consistency:
If the mixture is too thick, add more water, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is achieved. The dip should be thick and creamy, but spreadable.
  3. Incorporate Cilantro:
Once the mixture is smooth and well-blended, stir in the fresh chopped cilantro to enhance the flavor and freshness.
  4. Serve:
Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and enjoy with tortilla chips, drizzled over tacos, or as a topping for nachos. Serve immediately for best taste.

Notes

  • For extra spice, leave the seeds in the jalapeños before blending.
  • To keep the dip green and prevent browning, store it in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed directly on the surface.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, you can mash the avocados with a fork and finely chop the other ingredients for a chunkier version.
