Description

This Peanut Butter Cake is a delicious and decadent dessert that’s perfect for peanut butter lovers. With a moist and fluffy cake base and a creamy peanut butter frosting, it’s a simple yet satisfying treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter

Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter and dust with flour to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and baking soda.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Add milk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on low speed until well combined.
  4. Heat Peanut Butter Mixture: In a saucepan, combine water, butter, and peanut butter. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until melted and smooth.
  5. Combine and Bake: Pour the warm peanut butter mixture into the batter and mix until well combined. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  6. Make Frosting: In a separate bowl, cream together softened butter and peanut butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with milk, until you reach a smooth and spreadable consistency.
  7. Frost and Serve: Frost the cooled cake with the peanut butter frosting and serve.

Notes

  • Peanut Butter: Use creamy peanut butter for the best results.
  • Make Ahead: The cake can be baked a day in advance and stored, covered, at room temperature.
  • Storage: Store leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Variations:
    • Add chocolate chips to the batter for a peanut butter chocolate chip cake.
    • Drizzle melted chocolate over the frosting for a decorative touch.
    • Use crunchy peanut butter in the frosting for added texture.
