Description

Memaw’s Sausage Bundles feature savory pork sausage mixed with creamy chive and onion cream cheese, all wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough. These bite-sized bundles are perfect for appetizers or snacks, baked to golden perfection and optionally served with tangy Dijon mustard for dipping.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Sausage Mixture

  • 8 oz. regular bulk pork sausage
  • 1/2 cup chive and onion cream cheese spread

Dough

  • 1 (8-oz.) can crescent rolls

Optional

  • Dijon mustard, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cook the Sausage: Preheat oven to 375°F. In a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, crumble and cook the sausage until fully cooked, about 5 minutes. Transfer the cooked sausage to a bowl and allow it to cool slightly for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix the Filling: Stir the chive and onion cream cheese spread into the cooked sausage until well combined to create a creamy sausage mixture.
  3. Prepare the Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a flat surface and press it into a 12-inch by 9-inch rectangle, firmly sealing the perforations. Cut the dough into 24 equal 2-inch by 2-inch squares.
  4. Assemble Bundles: Spoon about one heaping teaspoon of the sausage mixture onto the center of each dough square. Bring the four corners of the dough together to overlap slightly in the center, then twist and pinch the dough to seal each bundle securely. Arrange the sealed bundles on an ungreased baking sheet.
  5. Bake: Bake the bundles in the preheated oven until they are golden brown, about 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from the oven and serve warm with Dijon mustard on the side, if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute the chive and onion cream cheese with plain cream cheese and fresh herbs if preferred.
  • Make sure to pinch the dough tightly to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
  • Serving the bundles with Dijon mustard adds a nice tangy contrast to the rich filling.
  • These bundles reheat well in the oven or microwave for leftovers.
