Description

Maple Glazed Salmon Bites are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main dish featuring tender salmon cubes air-fried to perfection and coated in a rich, sweet, and spicy maple syrup glaze. Served over white rice and garnished with fresh green onions, this recipe balances savory and sweet flavors with a hint of heat, making it perfect for a quick weeknight meal or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 1 pound salmon, skin removed, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Sauce

  • ¼ cup (½ stick / 57 g) unsalted butter
  • ½ cup (160 g) maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ¼ cup water
  • Green onions, chopped, for garnish
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F to ensure the salmon cooks evenly and develops a nice sear.
  2. Season the Salmon: In a large bowl, combine olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Add the salmon cubes and toss gently to coat all pieces evenly with the seasoning mixture.
  3. Air Fry the Salmon: Arrange the salmon bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Air fry for 7 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking, until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 140-145°F.
  4. Rest the Salmon: Transfer the cooked salmon bites to a plate and tent loosely with foil to keep warm while you prepare the glaze.
  5. Prepare the Maple Glaze: In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, combine butter, maple syrup, soy sauce, minced garlic, white wine vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Stir the mixture and bring it to a boil.
  6. Simmer the Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium and simmer the sauce for 6 to 8 minutes, or until it slightly thickens. If the sauce becomes too thick, stir in water to loosen it to your desired consistency.
  7. Coat the Salmon: Add the air-fried salmon bites into the skillet with the sauce and toss gently to coat every piece evenly in the flavorful glaze.
  8. Serve: Garnish the glazed salmon bites with chopped green onions and serve immediately over cooked white rice for a complete and satisfying meal.

Notes

  • Oven Instructions: Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange seasoned salmon cubes on it. Bake for 16 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 145°F. Toss with the prepared maple glaze sauce before serving.
  • You can adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to make the glaze spicier or milder according to your preference.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.
