Description

This Lemon Pepper Chicken is a simple yet flavorful dish that’s perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal. Tender chicken breasts are seared to golden perfection and then simmered in a creamy lemon pepper sauce, making for a satisfying and delicious dinner.


Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut in half lengthwise
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning

Instructions

  • Sear Chicken: Season chicken cutlets with salt and lemon pepper. Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and sear for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove chicken and set aside.
  • Make Sauce: Add remaining butter to the skillet. Once melted, add garlic and flour. Cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Simmer and Thicken: Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, whisking until smooth. Add lemon pepper seasoning and bring to a simmer.
  • Return Chicken and Finish: Add chicken back to the skillet along with any accumulated juices. Simmer for 4-5 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through (165°F) and the sauce has thickened. Adjust heat as needed to maintain a gentle simmer.
  • Serve: Season with additional salt and pepper, if needed, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Salt: If you’re sensitive to salt, use low-sodium chicken broth and a low- or no-salt lemon pepper seasoning.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or your favorite vegetables for a complete meal.
