Description

This Hot Honey Chicken recipe is a delicious and easy way to enjoy a flavorful, crispy chicken dish with a sweet and spicy kick. Perfect for a quick weeknight meal or a fun appetizer.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut in half
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Hot Honey Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

For Garnish:

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Marinate Chicken: Place chicken breasts in a bowl, cover with buttermilk, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  2. Dredge Chicken: In a shallow dish, combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Remove chicken from buttermilk, shaking off excess, and dredge in the flour mixture.
  3. Air Fry Chicken: Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spray with cooking spray. Cook for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Make Hot Honey Sauce: While the chicken is cooking, combine hot sauce, honey, butter, chili powder, and garlic powder in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the butter is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Glaze and Finish: Drizzle the hot honey sauce over the cooked chicken in the air fryer basket. Spread evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and caramelized.
  6. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • Marinating: Marinate chicken for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for optimal flavor.
  • Hot Sauce: Choose your preferred hot sauce based on your spice preference.
  • Air Fryer: Cook chicken in batches if needed, depending on the size of your air fryer.
  • Sauce: Simmer the sauce longer for a thicker consistency.
  • Serving: Serve with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes or a salad.
