Description

A refreshing Honeydew Lemonade recipe combining fresh lemon juice and honeydew melon juice sweetened with a simple sugar syrup, perfect for a cool and tangy summer drink.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Honeydew Lemonade Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (approx. from 6-8 lemons)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 cups water (divided into 4 cups and 2 cups)
  • 1 cup fresh honeydew juice (prepared from about 1/4 of a medium honeydew melon)

Instructions

  1. Make Sugar Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine 3/4 cup granulated sugar and 2 cups of water. Heat over medium heat until it reaches a simmer and the sugar completely dissolves, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  2. Extract Lemon Juice: While the sugar is melting, squeeze fresh lemons to obtain 1 1/4 cups of lemon juice. Strain the juice to remove seeds and pulp for a smooth texture.
  3. Prepare Honeydew Juice: Using a juicer or blender, prepare 1 cup fresh honeydew juice. To do this with a blender, cut the honeydew into large cubes, removing the rind and seeds. Blend at high speed until liquid smooth, then strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove any pulp.
  4. Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher, add the freshly squeezed lemon juice, 4 cups of cold water, the cooled sugar syrup, and 1 cup of fresh honeydew juice.
  5. Mix and Chill: Stir all ingredients thoroughly to combine. Add lemon slices for garnish and refrigerate to chill, or add ice cubes just before serving.
  6. Serve: Serve the Honeydew Lemonade over ice for a refreshing summer beverage. If making ahead, store in the refrigerator without ice and add ice cubes to individual glasses when ready to serve.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use fresh lemons and ripe honeydew melon.
  • Straining the juices ensures a smooth, pulp-free lemonade.
  • Adjust sugar levels according to your taste preference.
  • Honeydew juice adds a unique sweet and fragrant twist to traditional lemonade.
  • Store leftover lemonade in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
