Description

Create spooky and fun Halloween Strawberry Monsters using fresh ripe strawberries, white and black fondant, and candy eyes. These no-bake treats are perfect for Halloween parties, featuring sharp white fondant teeth against black fondant mouths, all assembled with sweet icing glue.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Fruit

  • 12 ripe strawberries

Fondant

  • 2 ounces white fondant (50g)
  • Black food coloring gel or store-bought black fondant

Other

  • 1/3 cup powdered icing sugar
  • White writing icing tube
  • 12 candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberries: Cut the tops off the strawberries so they can stand upright with the pointed tip facing up, creating a stable base for the decorations.
  2. Color the fondant: Add a drop or two of black food coloring gel to half of the white fondant and knead it thoroughly, adding more gel as needed to achieve a deep black color.
  3. Roll out fondant: Lightly dust your work surface with powdered icing sugar to prevent sticking, then roll out both the white and black fondants separately until smooth and thin.
  4. Cut mouth shapes: Cut small oval shapes out of the black fondant sized to fit onto the strawberries, which will become the mouths of the monsters.
  5. Create teeth: From the white fondant, cut small triangle shapes to serve as the sharp teeth for your strawberry monsters.
  6. Assemble mouths: Use a little water on your fingertip to gently glue the white triangle teeth onto the black oval mouth shapes until they stick firmly.
  7. Attach decorations: Use the white writing icing as edible glue to attach the assembled mouths to the front of the strawberries, then add the candy eyes on top to complete their monster faces.

Notes

  • Make sure the strawberries are firm and dry so the decorations adhere better.
  • If black food coloring gel is not available, black fondant can be purchased ready-made to save time.
  • Use a fine brush or toothpick to apply water when gluing fondant pieces to avoid excess moisture.
  • These treats are best served fresh on the day of assembly for the best texture and flavor.
  • Variations can include adding different colored icing or edible glitter for extra spooky effects.
