Description

These Frankenstein Pretzels are a fun and festive Halloween treat, featuring square pretzels sandwiched with creamy peanut butter, coated in green-tinted white chocolate, and decorated with candy eyes, chocolate sprinkles, and mini pretzel ears. Perfect for parties or spooky snack times, they combine sweet, salty, and crunchy textures with playful presentation.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Pretzel Sandwiches

  • 24 square pretzels
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

Chocolate Coating

  • 2 cups white chocolate chips, melted
  • 1 Tbsp. coconut oil
  • Green food coloring (a few drops)

Decorations

  • 24 candy eyes
  • 1/3 cup chocolate jimmies (sprinkles)
  • Mini pretzel sticks (broken into small pieces)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips, melted (for drawing mouth)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pretzel Sandwiches: Spread creamy peanut butter onto half of the square pretzels, then carefully place the remaining pretzels on top to create sandwich cookies.
  2. Make Green Chocolate Coating: Stir 1 tablespoon of coconut oil into the melted white chocolate chips to achieve a smooth texture, then add a few drops of green food coloring and whisk to combine evenly.
  3. Coat Pretzels: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Dip the peanut butter-filled pretzel sandwiches into the green chocolate mixture, tossing them until fully coated. Use a fork to lift each coated pretzel and transfer onto the parchment paper.
  4. Add Hair and Eyes: While the chocolate coating is still wet, sprinkle chocolate jimmies on top of each pretzel to resemble hair. Then, gently press two candy eyes onto each pretzel to create Frankenstein’s face.
  5. Attach Ears: Break mini pretzel sticks into small pieces to form ears, and stick one piece into each side of the pretzel head by lightly pressing it into the chocolate coating before it sets.
  6. Draw Mouths: Pour melted chocolate chips into a small plastic bag, snip off a tiny corner, and draw a mouth onto each Frankenstein pretzel, completing the spooky facial expressions.

Notes

  • Use creamy peanut butter for easier spreading and better texture in the sandwich.
  • Ensure the white chocolate is not too hot when adding food coloring to avoid separation.
  • Work quickly when decorating to prevent chocolate from hardening before adding eyes and ears.
  • If desired, substitute peanut butter with almond butter or sunflower seed butter for allergy-friendly options.
  • Store completed pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
