Description

This Easy Salisbury Steak recipe combines seasoned ground beef patties with rich, savory gravy, creating a comforting and hearty meal perfect for weeknights. It uses simple ingredients and quick preparation, resulting in a delicious dish that’s full of flavor with minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Patty Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Gravy Ingredients

  • 2 packets Brown Gravy Mix (approximately 1oz each)
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1 teaspoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare Patties: Add all patty ingredients to a large bowl. Use clean hands to combine thoroughly. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and flatten each into a patty shape.
  2. Cook Patties: Heat 1 tablespoon of avocado oil in a skillet over medium heat. Place the patties in the skillet and cook until browned on both sides and cooked through, approximately 4-5 minutes per side. Adjust heat if necessary to prevent burning. Once cooked, remove patties and set aside.
  3. Make Gravy: In a bowl, whisk together gravy mix, hot water, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
  4. Combine and Simmer: Pour the gravy mixture into the skillet with any remaining juices. Bring to a simmer over low heat. Return the cooked patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, and stir gently. Let simmer for 3-5 minutes until gravy thickens slightly. If the gravy becomes too thick, add an additional ¼ cup hot water and stir.
  5. Serve: Serve the Salisbury steaks hot, spooning gravy over each patty. These go wonderfully with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version of this dish.
  • If you prefer a thicker gravy, cook it for an extra few minutes until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • For added flavor, sauté sliced onions and mushrooms with the patties.
