Pasta:
- 8 oz penne pasta
- 2 tsp salt
Sauce:
- 1 pound sausage (Jimmy Dean regular pork sausage recommended)
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Add 2 tsp salt to a large pot of water and bring to a boil. Cook pasta according to package directions for al dente pasta.
- Cook the Sausage: In a separate large pan over medium-high heat, cook sausage thoroughly. Add garlic or green chopped green peppers if desired.
- Prepare the Sauce: Before draining the pasta, reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water. Transfer cooked sausage to a plate. Deglaze the hot pan with 1/2 cup of pasta water. Reduce heat to medium, add heavy cream, and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Combine and Serve: Add the drained pasta to the sauce, stir well to coat. Add in the sausage, mix to combine, and serve immediately.
