Description

This vibrant Layered Jello Pie features distinct colorful gelatin layers enhanced with whipped cream, set in a buttery graham cracker crust. Perfectly chilled, it offers a refreshing, creamy, and visually appealing dessert that’s easy to prepare and ideal for celebrations or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 2 packages Graham Cracker Sheets
  • 10 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter

Jello Layers

  • 1 box Red Jello (3 ounces)
  • 1 box Orange Jello (3 ounces)
  • 1 box Yellow Jello (3 ounces)
  • 3 cups Boiling Water (divided into 1 cup per jello)
  • 3 cups Cold Water (divided into 1 cup per jello)
  • 24 ounces Whipped Cream (divided, 8 ounces per jello layer)
  • Pink Food Coloring
  • Orange Food Coloring
  • Bright Yellow Food Coloring

Garnish (optional)

  • Whipped Cream
  • Gold Sanding Sugar

Instructions

  1. Crush the graham crackers: Place the graham crackers in a food processor and pulse until they are finely crushed into crumbs.
  2. Make the crust mixture: Melt the unsalted butter and add it to the food processor with the crushed graham crackers. Mix until the mixture has the texture of wet sand, occasionally stopping to scrape down the sides for even mixing.
  3. Form the crust: Transfer the graham cracker mixture into a 10-inch deep dish springform pan. Press it firmly and evenly across the bottom and up the sides of the pan to form the crust.
  4. Chill the crust: Place the pan with the crust in the freezer to set while you prepare the jello layers.
  5. Prepare each jello flavor: Divide the red, orange, and yellow jello powders each into separate bowls. Add 1 cup of boiling water to each bowl and stir until completely dissolved, ensuring no graininess remains.
  6. Add cold water and chill: Add 1 cup of cold water to each bowl of dissolved jello and stir. Place the bowls in the refrigerator for 40-50 minutes until the jello thickens significantly but has not fully set.
  7. Mix in whipped cream: Add 8 ounces of whipped cream to each bowl and stir well until fully combined, creating a creamy gelatin mixture.
  8. Add food coloring: To the yellow jello mixture, add bright yellow food coloring a few drops at a time, stirring until the desired shade is reached. Repeat for the red jello with pink food coloring, and for the orange jello with orange food coloring, ensuring no streaks remain.
  9. Layer the jello mixtures: Pour the pink-tinted red jello mixture evenly over the prepared graham cracker crust. Next, add the yellow layer followed by the orange layer, spreading each layer evenly.
  10. Set the pie: Refrigerate the assembled layered jello pie for at least 3 hours or until fully set.
  11. Garnish and serve: Before serving, optionally garnish the pie with dollops of whipped cream and sprinkle with gold sanding sugar for a festive touch.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Freezing: Freezing is not recommended as gelatin texture changes negatively when thawed.
  • Tip: Allow enough time for the jello to thicken before mixing in whipped cream to achieve perfect layered texture.
  • Prep and Total Time: Prep time is about 20 minutes; total time is primarily chilling time (about 4 hours including refrigeration and setting).
