Description

These Cobweb Brownies combine rich, fudgy brownies with a fun and spooky marshmallow cobweb topping, perfect for Halloween or any themed party. The brownies are baked and then delicately decorated with melted marshmallows stretched into thin strands to create an eye-catching cobweb effect.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Brownies

  • 1 box brownie mix

Cobweb Topping

  • 1 cup marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9”x13” baking pan thoroughly with cooking spray to ensure the brownies do not stick.
  2. Prepare and bake brownies: Follow the instructions on the brownie mix box to prepare the batter. Pour the batter evenly into the greased pan. Bake the brownies for 20-25 minutes or according to the box instructions until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow the brownies to cool completely to room temperature before cutting them into squares.
  3. Melt marshmallows: Place the marshmallows in a microwave-safe bowl and heat them in the microwave for about 30 seconds until they become gooey and melted. Stir with a fork until the mixture is smooth, then allow it to cool slightly so it is easier to handle but still pliable.
  4. Create the cobweb design: Using two forks, carefully stretch about a tablespoon of the melted marshmallow mixture into thin strands. Drape and arrange the strands over the brownies in a spider web pattern. Continue stretching and arranging the strands to cover the surface. Serve immediately for best texture or store uncovered for 1-2 days to retain the cobweb effect.

Notes

  • Make sure brownies are completely cooled before applying marshmallow to prevent the topping from melting too much.
  • Use fresh marshmallows for easier melting and stretching.
  • If marshmallow hardens quickly, warm again briefly for continued use.
  • For extra festive appeal, add small edible spiders or Halloween-themed toppers onto the cobweb.
  • Store brownies in an airtight container but avoid refrigeration to keep marshmallow strands fresh.
