Description

This Classic Stromboli is a savory and satisfying meal, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings. Stuffed with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, salami, ham, and pepperoni, all wrapped in a crispy pizza dough crust, it’s a delicious and easy-to-make alternative to pizza.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1012 slices of salami
  • 12 thin slices of deli ham
  • 1213 slices of pepperoni
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • Additional pizza sauce for dipping
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: Roll the room-temperature pizza dough out into a large rectangle (about 12×14 inches) on a piece of parchment paper. Transfer the parchment paper with the dough to a baking sheet.
  2. Add Sauce and Cheese: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 2-inch border around the perimeter. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  3. Add Meats: Layer the salami, ham, and pepperoni evenly over the cheese.
  4. Roll and Seal: Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg. Roll up the dough tightly like a jelly roll, starting from one long edge. Pinch the edges together and tuck them under the stromboli to seal.
  5. Egg Wash and Season: Brush the top of the stromboli with the remaining beaten egg. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and garlic powder.
  6. Score and Bake: Gently make shallow diagonal cuts into the top of the stromboli every 2 inches. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Check the bottom for browning to ensure it’s cooked through.
  7. Cool and Serve: Let the stromboli sit for a few minutes before slicing. Use a sharp serrated knife to cut into 8-10 slices. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve with warm pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use your favorite pizza toppings, such as vegetables, mushrooms, or olives.
  • For a spicier stromboli, add red pepper flakes or jalapeños.
  • Ensure the dough is rolled out evenly for consistent cooking.
  • You can use store bought or homemade pizza dough.
  • Serve immediately for best results.
