Description

These Christmas magic cookie bars are a festive and indulgent treat perfect for the holiday season. Featuring a buttery graham cracker crust, a sweet layer of coconut flakes, chocolate chips, and colorful holiday M&M’s, all drizzled with sweetened condensed milk and baked to golden perfection. They are easy to make and sure to be a crowd-pleaser at any holiday gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Toppings

  • 1 cup coconut flakes
  • 14 oz (1 can) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (divided)
  • 1 cup holiday M&M’s

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 13×9 inch baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum foil to prevent sticking and make removal easier.
  2. Prepare the crust: In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, graham cracker crumbs, and salt. Mix well until the crumbs are fully coated with butter. Then press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form a firm layer.
  3. Add the first toppings: Sprinkle the coconut flakes evenly over the graham cracker crust. Then sprinkle half of the chocolate chips evenly on top. Drizzle the entire layer with the sweetened condensed milk to help bind the toppings as it bakes.
  4. Top with remaining ingredients: Evenly distribute the holiday M&M’s over the top of the bars. Finally, sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips to create a colorful and chocolatey finish.
  5. Bake the bars: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until the edges are golden and bubbling. Once baked, allow the bars to cool completely in the pan to set before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • Ensure the bars are fully cooled before slicing to maintain clean, sturdy pieces.
  • You can substitute holiday M&M’s with any colorful chocolate candies or festive sprinkles.
  • Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • For a nutty variation, consider adding chopped nuts such as walnuts or pecans.
  • If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the amount of chocolate chips or condensed milk slightly.
