Description

This festive Chocolate Christmas Candy recipe combines smooth semi-sweet and creamy white melting chocolates with colorful sprinkles and crushed candy canes, making a delightful holiday treat. Easy to prepare and perfect for gifting or serving, these candies melt in your mouth with a sweet, crunchy texture and vibrant holiday colors.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Bases

  • 2 cups semi-sweet melting chocolates
  • 2 cups white chocolate melting wafers

Decorations

  • ½ cup white non-pareil sprinkles
  • ½ cup red, green, and white non-pareil sprinkles
  • ½ cup crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sprinkles: Arrange the white non-pareil sprinkles, red, green, and white non-pareil sprinkles, and crushed candy canes in three separate rows about ¼ inch deep on a serving dish with high edges or on separate plates to easily coat the candies later.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt one type of chocolate (either semi-sweet or white chocolate wafers) according to package instructions. Melt only one flavor at a time to avoid reheating chocolate multiple times, which can affect the texture.
  3. Create the Candy: Transfer the melted chocolate to a piping bag or a zip lock bag with a small hole cut at the tip. Pipe small circles about ½ inch in diameter over the sprinkles, repeating until all chocolate or half the sprinkles are used.
  4. Harden the Candy: Let the piped chocolate rest on the sprinkles for about 5 minutes or until set. To speed up this process, place the tray briefly in the refrigerator. Once hardened, gently use a fork to scoop the candies out of the sprinkles.
  5. Repeat with Second Chocolate: Repeat the melting and candy-making process with the remaining chocolate type, following the same steps to create the second batch of candies.
  6. Finish and Serve: Place the cooled and hardened candies into a bowl, mason jar, or gift bag. These candies can be served immediately or packaged as thoughtful holiday gifts.

Notes

  • Store candies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or refrigerated for up to 4 weeks.
  • Freeze candies in an airtight container for up to 5 months to maintain freshness.
  • Melt only one flavor of chocolate at a time to preserve texture and prevent reheating.
  • Enjoy candies chilled or at room temperature; warming will cause melting and clumping.
  • Customize shapes beyond circles—try holiday-themed designs like Christmas trees or letters for a personal touch.
