Pineapple
- 1 pineapple, cut into spears
Cinnamon Sugar Sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Prepare the Pineapple: Lay the pineapple spears out evenly on a pan or tray. Lightly sprinkle the spears with cinnamon to lightly coat the surface.
- Make the Caramel Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined. If the sauce appears too thick, microwave it for a few seconds to thin it out for easier pouring or brushing.
- Coat the Pineapple: Use a cooking brush to spread the cinnamon-butter mixture generously over the pineapple spears, ensuring all sides are covered.
- Grill the Pineapple: Preheat your grill to medium heat. Place the coated pineapple spears directly onto the grill grates. Grill for 7-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the pineapple is golden brown and caramelized on the edges.
- Serve: Once grilled, brush any remaining caramel sauce from the pan over the hot pineapple spears before serving for extra flavor and shine.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- If you don’t have a grill, you can use an indoor grill pan or broil the pineapple in the oven.
- Serve warm as a dessert on its own or over ice cream, pancakes, or waffles.
- Use fresh ripe pineapple for the best results. Canned pineapple tends to be too soft for grilling.
