For Teriyaki Sauce:
- 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
Instructions
- Prepare the beef
Cut the flank steak across the grain into ¼ inch thick slices. Season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to use. - Soak the skewers
Place the wooden skewers in enough water to cover them and let them soak for about 10 minutes to prevent burning during grilling. - Make the teriyaki sauce
Combine all the sauce ingredients in a small saucepan and whisk. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil while whisking continuously until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat. - Assemble and grill the skewers
Thread about 2 pieces of beef onto each skewer. Place the beef skewers on the grill over medium-high heat (350°F to 400°F). Brush generously with the prepared teriyaki sauce on both sides. Grill for 4 to 5 minutes per side, adjusting time based on the thickness of your beef slices. - Garnish and serve
Garnish the grilled skewers with toasted sesame seeds and chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Beef Teriyaki Skewers.
