Description

These Apple Pie Egg Rolls are a fun and unique twist on a classic dessert. Sweet and tart apples are combined with cream cheese and cinnamon, then wrapped in crispy egg roll wrappers and baked to golden perfection. Served with a side of warm caramel sauce for dipping, they’re a delicious and easy treat that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 5 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and finely diced (about 3 1/2 cups)
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2224 egg roll wrappers
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened (about 2 teaspoons per egg roll)
  • Cooking oil or cooking spray

Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup caramel topping, warmed (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside.
  3. Assemble Egg Rolls: On a clean work surface, lay out the egg roll wrappers. Spread 2 teaspoons of softened cream cheese in the center of each wrapper. Top with about 2 tablespoons of the apple mixture.
  4. Roll Egg Rolls:
    1. Lightly moisten the edges of the egg roll wrapper with water.
    2. Fold the bottom corner of the wrapper over the filling.
    3. Fold in the right and left corners to the center, pressing to seal.
    4. Continue rolling upwards to completely enclose the filling, sealing the edges with water.
  5. Bake: Place the rolled egg rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Brush or spray with cooking oil. Bake for 15-17 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Make Topping: While the egg rolls are baking, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  7. Coat and Serve: Once baked, immediately roll the warm egg rolls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated. Serve with warm caramel sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use other apple varieties, but tart apples like Granny Smith work well in this recipe.
  • If you don’t have caramel sauce, you can drizzle the egg rolls with honey or maple syrup.
  • Leftover egg rolls can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best results.
