10 distinctive features of the iPhone 13

On September 14, 2021, Apple introduced the iPhone 13, the second generation of 5G-enabled smartphones. After releasing the iPhone 12 after the rather successful model, Apple made it clear that the iPhone 13 is rather a modification of it. However, the iPhone 13 is showing a number of upgrades, including a brighter display with fewer bangs, better cameras, double the memory, and a new A15 Bionic processor. The iPhone 13 was announced alongside the iPhone 13 Pro, the new iPad, and the Apple Watch Series 7. Below are 10 of the most important iPhone 13 features to watch out for.

The news has been prepared on the basis of the review Kyle Alspach ( by Kyle Alspach ) and the site data of Apple Inc.

1. Display

The iPhone 13, like its predecessor, has a 6.1-inch, 460ppi display and uses OLED Super Retina XDR technology. In terms of upgrades, the iPhone 13 will be brighter, with outdoor display brightness boosted to 800 nits (iPhone 12 has 624 nits). Another change was the reduction in the size of the niche for the front-facing True Depth camera by changing its design. “Bangs” are now 20% narrower, which somewhat increases the usable space of the screen itself.

However, the iPhone 13 won’t have the refresh needed to display a smoother 120Hz picture – this feature is currently reserved for the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 has a 60Hz display.

2. Processor

As usual, Apple has unveiled a new generation of A-series smartphone processors – the iPhone 13 debuted with the A15 Bionic. The chip is equipped with a six-core CPU and a quad-core GPU. The company did not indicate what the performance improvement would be over the A14, but instead compared the iPhone 13’s performance to the competition: “Up to 50% faster than the competition for the processor itself and up to 30% faster in graphics.”

3. Communication

Like its predecessor, the iPhone 13 will support both types of 5G communications (up to 6 GHz). Apple did not provide details on whether the iPhone 13 will offer faster 5G speeds over the iPhone 12 (assuming the iPhone 13 should have Qualcomm’s new 5G modem). Instead of this 5G update, Apple has focused on incorporating more 5G bands “allowing it to be connected to the fifth generation in more locations, with better performance and radio coverage,” Apple said in a press release. The company plans to increase the number of supported 5G telecom operators to 200 or more worldwide by the end of the year.

4. Battery

One of the most useful Apple updates for the iPhone 13 is the improved battery life. Apple promises up to 19 hours of video playback for the iPhone 13, which is 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12. The increase in battery life is due to both the higher energy efficiency of the A15 chip and the increased battery size.

5. Memory

Another notable upgrade to the iPhone 13 is the starting storage capacity of the smartphone of 128GB, which is double that of the iPhone 12. The iPhone 13 will also be offered in 256GB and 512GB configurations.

6. Camera

The dual rear cameras on the iPhone 13 include a new wide-angle extended-matrix lens. The optical system is capable of capturing 47% more light, which can significantly improve the quality of low-light photography. Another update is the use of optical image stabilization, the so-called sensor-shift (OIS), which was previously only available for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. This technology “stabilizes the sensor, not the lens, resulting in more stable images,” Apple said in a statement. The ultra-wide-angle camera also includes a new sensor that Apple says “gives you more detail in dark areas of a photo and records videos with less noise.” Two cameras of 12 megapixels each have 2x optical and 5x digital zoom.

The layout of the rear cameras has also changed, now they are located diagonally, rather than vertically, as on the iPhone 12.

7. Video

Apple has announced new video features for the iPhone 13, including Cinematic Mode, which can automatically change focus as objects move. The company has demonstrated the ability of this model to “intelligently” shift focus from an object in the field of view to another object if it changes its angle and looks in a different direction.

8. Housing

The iPhone 13’s form factor remains pretty much the same as the iPhone 12, with the only change being a very slight increase in thickness (presumably to accommodate a larger battery). The iPhone 13 will be 7.65mm thin compared to 7.4mm with the iPhone 12. The iPhone 13 will also retain the flat-edged design introduced with the iPhone 12.

In terms of durability, the iPhone 13 will still feature a high-strength ceramic display coating and an IP68 waterproof rating (the device is supposed to withstand a 6-meter submersion in water for half an hour). iPhone 13 will be compatible with MagSafe accessories that magnetically attach to the back of your phone.

9. Coloring

The iPhone 13 will be available in five colors: pink, blue, midnight (black), starry (white), and red. Pink is new and will replace the green that was available for the iPhone 12.

10. Price and availability

Apple’s iPhone 13 starts at $ 799. This is identical to the starting price of the iPhone 12, although the starting storage on the iPhone 13 has doubled to 128GB.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 13 beginning September 17, with shipping on September 24.
